Kim Rohrs, 10 Years of Spring (3,650 cells)
acrylic on canvas, 24” x 24” x 1.5”
•
The artist on the piece:
“Inspired by the colors of spring: the emerging greens after months of hibernation, the spring crocus giving us the first colors of a promising season of color, rain and damp weather setting the stage for growth. I count each cellular shape I paint, one cell for one day, until the painting is a visual record of years. As the number of cellular shapes increase, my paintings become a meditation on the accumulation of time. This painting has exactly 3,650 cellular shapes.”
