The artist on the piece: “Cresting was inspired by images of sunlight through water. I love the clarity of color inside a cresting wave, and the visual interest of how the land appears through the water. I see the movement of water as a reminder that the only constant is change. I began this painting with an abstract design of shapes of unequal sizes, filled with color of unequal values. The magenta underpainting was allowed to show through on the left. The opaque passages were added last, and are designed to accentuate the movement of the cresting wave.”

“I am intrigued by the irreplaceable value of our time and attention. We can choose to live as though life is not a race, but something to savor.
When I paint, I’m immersed in my ability to experience. I’ve stopped barreling through the present and, quite literally, come to my senses. I use oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings to invite you to slow down and give this moment your undivided attention. I am always in search of color, especially in nature, and often paint outdoors (en plein air). My goal is to offer visual joy.
