Katie Davis, Domestic Glow
textiles, paint, paper, and colored pencil on wood panel, 43” x 48”
The artist on the piece: “This composition shows an abstracted female figure in a position of protecting herself from a wave of chaos heading in her direction. I used domestic textile scraps from old sheets, clothing, and curtains to form that shapes that make up most of the composition's "chaos". I also used a glowing yellow as the dominant color because I wanted there to be an inner light to the whole painting. It does have a glow about it when you see it up close.”
